Have you considered teaching a macro photography class on skillshare? I LOVE your photos and am macro obsessed myself but currently use (quite laughably) my iPhone. Have been wanting to invest in the right equipment. Would love an overview class of your technique and equipment, etc. AMAZING work, thank you!

On another note: has anyone ever told you that you look like actor Jeremy Piven?

Wow. That's quite a setup. I was wondering, for a while, how your setup looked. Amazing.

Wow, that's a heck of a contraption you've got there!

And you know what's scary? You look kind of like my roommate. Same glasses and everything XD

It takes a brave man to post an image of himself AND ask for a critique :D

Good to finally see you Alistair 8-)

It really seems so impossible. First, for most of us, flies fly! For you they stay still, even when your hold their perch.

Second, the equipment is heavy and awkward but I can see that you're using your left hand, not only to steady the flash, but, as you've told us, to hold the leaf steady.

Third, you'd make a great brain surgeon.

Fascinating photo!

Very nice to see you!
I had no idea what you meant when you listed that it was handheld using the left hand brace technique and now I do. After seeing this I'm doubly amazed by your pictures and how clear they are. I'm sure that has to be heavy and kind of awkward but you would never know it from what we see.
Amazing job you're doing.:D
